FUR began in 2008 as Bryce Isbell’s solo effort with the intention of developing into an experimental, poly-collaborative electronic project consisting of Isbell’s friends and musical peers. As of 2010, FUR added a new member, Gray Saint Germain Gideon, previously of Ghosthustler. With the heartfelt notion that music is the purest form of self-expression, Fur’s music is sheer autobiographical abstraction. Before creating music under his Fur moniker, Isbell studied film in Paris, France and it was during this time that he began to develop an understanding for visual and musical composition. As a solo artist, Isbell kept busy making lo-fi electronic music, releasing Colorful Purple on Secret Station Records; Witches, Lackadaisical EP, and the most recent Polybreak [digital 7”] on Waaga Records.

It wasn’t until meeting Gray St. Germain Gideon, who’s near perfect pitch, production savvy and unique concepts helped to set in-place the final piece of the puzzle.  FUR describes their identity as ever changing and both Gray and Isbell keep the music they listen to and study on a constant rotation.

Having received excellent reviews from the likes of Britain’s The Guardian newspaper, Pitchfork Media, Gorilla vs. Bear, and other glowing press reviews from around the world. Fur’s talent, drive and infectiously unique sounds create an endless list of possibilities for the band. FUR is currently wrapping up recording their Freak Emotion EP and a split album with newly minted Dublin producers; Planet Mu’s Solar Bears, and will begin their West Coast tour in July, 2010.
